Three researchers from the AI Cross-Center Unit (AICCU) have been selected to pursue master’s and PhD studies at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). MBZUAI will welcome its inaugural cohort of 101 students from 31 countries in January 2021, with 82 in M.Sc. programs and 19 in Ph.D. programs focusing on computer vision and machine learning. The students come from diverse regions, including the UAE (21%), other parts of the Middle East (13%), Asia (38%), Africa (21%), and the Americas/Europe (10%), with 30% female representation. Many admitted students graduated from top universities worldwide. MBZUAI welcomed 142 students from 34 countries, its largest and most diverse cohort since 2019, with a competitive admission rate of 4.6% out of over 4,000 applications. Both will stay at MBZUAI for their PhDs, crediting the university's resources and faculty. Their supervisor, Salman Khan, praised their curiosity and hard work, highlighting their role in building the institution's reputation.
