KAUST team synthesizes novel metal-organic framework for efficient CO2 removal

KAUST researchers synthesized a novel copper-based metal-organic framework (MOF) called SIFSIX-3-Cu for selective CO2 adsorption. The new MOF is porous, moisture-resistant, inexpensive, and reusable, offering advantages over existing materials. Testing showed SIFSIX-3-Cu can efficiently remove CO2 from air, which is relevant for direct air capture (DAC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
