KAUST Library Director Dr. J. K. Vijayakumar has been elected to the board of directors of the International Association of University Libraries (IATUL). Vicky Kalogeiton from École Polytechnique discussed the importance of multimodality for story-level recognition and generation using video, audio, text, masks and clinical data. KAUST alumnus Abhinay Ramaprasad (M.S. '12, Ph.D. '17) has been awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship from the European Commission. He will research malaria at the Francis Crick Institute in the U.K., focusing on the mechanisms of malaria parasite egress from red blood cells. Dr. Abdelrahman AlMahmoud from TII's Secure Systems Research Center (SSRC) will participate in a WGISTA webinar on adopting a digital mindset in auditing and fighting corruption. KAUST's Visual Computing Center (VCC) hosted an Open House event on March 28, showcasing its interdisciplinary research in visual computing.
