Plants reorganize proteins to protect photosynthesis during extreme heat

Researchers at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) discovered a mechanism by which plants protect photosynthesis under high temperatures. They identified that the protein protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase reorganizes into chloroplast stress granules, which helps protect and restore the plant's ability to convert sunlight into chemical energy. Plants lacking this protein struggled more under heat stress, indicating its role in natural resilience.
