KAUST alumna Dr. Dalal Alezi has been awarded the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship for Saudi Women at MIT to pursue postdoctoral research in energy storage and water capture materials. She completed her Ph.D. at KAUST under Professor Mohamed Eddaoudi, focusing on metal-organic materials for gas separation, storage, catalysis, and drug delivery. Alezi credits KAUST and KAU for supporting her career and shaping her role as a mentor for incoming science students at KAU. KAUST alumni and students participated in the first MIT Hacking Medicine event in the Middle East, held in Riyadh at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University. The event, organized by the MIT-Ibn Khaldun Fellowship Alumni Society and sponsored by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, involved 100 participants working on healthcare, science, engineering, and business development problems. KAUST alumna Haleema Alamri, a 2016 Ph.D. graduate in Physical Science and Engineering, was nominated to join the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship at MIT as a postdoctoral fellow, after joining Saudi Aramco as a research scientist. During her fellowship, she conducted research in chemistry and polymer science. Alamri participated in the Innovation to Impact forum during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to MIT in 2018.
