G42 and Publicis Sapient have signed an MOU to explore a joint venture combining G42’s AI infrastructure with Publicis Sapient’s enterprise AI platforms. The venture aims to accelerate digital transformation across the UAE and Global South by deploying AI agents and enabling data-driven operations. It will deliver services across cloud modernization, AI use case development, and enterprise software engineering. Why it matters: This partnership could establish a major AI services platform in the UAE, driving adoption of AI across the region and beyond.
G42 and Cerebras, in partnership with MBZUAI and C-DAC, will deploy an 8 exaflop AI supercomputer in India. The system will operate under India's governance frameworks, with all data remaining within national jurisdiction to meet sovereign security and compliance requirements. The supercomputer will be accessible to Indian researchers, startups, and government entities under the India AI Mission.
This study compares AI uptake in the UAE and Kuwait, analyzing how constitutional, collective-choice, and operational rules shape AI implementation and its impact on citizen centricity and public value creation. It finds that the UAE's concentrated authority and pro-innovation environment enable scaling AI initiatives, while Kuwait's dispersed governance and cautious approach limit progress despite similar resources. The research highlights the importance of vertical rule coherence over wealth in determining AI's public-value yield.
MBZUAI has released Jais and Jais-chat, two new open generative large language models (LLMs) with a focus on Arabic. The 13 billion parameter models are based on the GPT-3 architecture and pretrained on Arabic, English, and code. Evaluation shows state-of-the-art Arabic knowledge and reasoning, with competitive English performance.
MBZUAI has launched the Ruwwad AI Scholars (RAIS) program, a postdoctoral fellowship for Emirati Ph.D. graduates to undertake two-year, fully-funded research positions at leading global institutions. The program aims to cultivate local talent in AI and computational research, with the goal of strengthening participants' eligibility for faculty positions at MBZUAI. The fellowship covers a stipend, research funds, insurance, relocation support, and conference travel.
